September 10th, 2023
September 10 marks World Suicide Prevention Day. It serves as an important reminder that suicide and mental health challenges touch many in our schools and in our community.
As part of our ongoing work to reduce the risk of suicide for those in the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB), we strive to make our schools safe, inclusive and supportive learning environments for all. Today, and every day, we are working to raise awareness and reduce the stigma around suicide.
On this World Suicide Prevention Day, we want everyone in our school communities to know there is help available. You are not alone.
There are many resources available that can provide support if you are in distress or having trouble coping. If it is an emergency, call 911 or go to your local emergency department.
