February 16th, 2022
Dear Glenview Families,
We are so happy to have our students back in our semester 2 classes. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of some important dates that are coming up this semester. On these Instructional Support Days and Blended Learning dates, students may choose to stay home to learn. We have found from our experience in the first semester that these days can be tremendously beneficial to our students’ well-being and provide an opportunity for catch up and deeper understanding on the topics covered in class.
Instructional Support Days: April 19 & 20, June 22, 23, 24
Secondary schools will not revert to exam days with the Semester 2 schedule. Instructional Support Days will continue to be offered as they are currently scheduled on our ministry-approved school calendar. The dates for the Semester 2 Instructional Support Days are April 19 and 20, and June 22, 23 and 24. There are no synchronous (live) class meetings on these days. Students in ACE classes will attend in-person and follow the regular schedule.
Blended Learning Days: February 16, March 23, April 27, and May 18
In November 2021, the Ministry of Education announced that all schools in the province will implement a fully de-streamed and single-streamed Grade 9 Program. This new approach will ensure high academic expectations and less program restrictions for all our learners.
In order to prepare and implement the new Grade 9 program and support students’ achievement and well-being, all WRDSB secondary schools will offer four Blended Learning days this semester: February 16, March 23, April 27, and May 18.
For students, these days will be similar to our Instructional Support Days, where students are not required to attend in-person, but will have learning provided through the virtual classroom and live meetings with their teachers. Students who choose to attend in person should report to the cafeteria in the morning and attend their regular classes in the afternoon. Please note that students in ACE classrooms will continue to attend in-person according to the regular day schedule.
In the morning, learning will be remote and asynchronous. During the afternoon, learning will be remote and synchronous (live), with opportunities to meet with each teacher.
