The spring OSSLT will be written by eligible students on April 15 beginning at 8:30am in Block A classrooms/classes, or predetermined alternate locations for those with accommodations.

April 7 → Block B – Multiple Choice Strategies (reading and grammar)
April 8 → Block C – Opinion Essay Part 1 (structure, scoring and brainstorming)
April 9 → Block D – Opinion Essay Part 2 (brainstorming, planning and drafting)
April 10 → Block A – Practice Test
April 13 → Lunch in C118 – Extra help (small group/one-on-one)
TEST DAY SCHEDULE
8:00 – 8:10 – Pick up a snack and head to writing location (Block A classroom, or alternate location) for attendance
8:15 – 8:25 – OSSLT Instructions and Login
8:25-9:30 – Session A (extra time is allowed)
9:30 – 9:40 – BREAK
9:40-10:50 – Session B (extra time is allowed), including questionnaire

FAQ
What do I need to bring to the test?
- Your well-rested self
- A charged school-issued Chromebook
- Pen or pencil for rough work (foolscap paper will be provided)
- Extra snack and water bottle
- Plug-in earbuds (we will have them if you don’t own them)
- OEN (Ontario Education Number) – you will receive a sticker with your information before the test to put on your Chromebook.
Things You Need to Know
- You can’t have your cell phone with you during the test. It will be placed in your bag at the front of the class or with the teacher in the room.
- You have been preparing for the test since you started school as a child, and have experience with the types of questions on the test.
- Budget your time. The two sessions that make up the test are designed to be 60 minutes each. Everyone can have up to double time.
- The Accessibility Tools the test provides are there to help you. Use the ones that work for you, and practice using them before the test so you don’t waste time.
Spring Session Information
- SPRING – grade 10, grade 11, and grade 12 students who have not yet attempted the OSSLT, or who have not yet been successful.
- All students expected to write the OSSLT in the Spring will receive a letter in their homeroom. A School-Day message will also be posted to parents and an email with important writing tips sent to students.
- Students with questions are encouraged to come to the Library and speak with Ms. Vodicka (klara_vodicka@wrdsb.ca) or Ms. Brunton (holly_brunton@wrdsb.ca) throughout the day.

Who Writes the OSSLT / Who is Deferred?
- Students in Grades 10 and 11, and non-graduating Grade 12 students working toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) will write the OSSLT.
- Students who have an IEP may write the test with the accommodations (e.g. extra time, scribes, assistive technology, breaks, prompts) listed in their IEP.
- Students not working towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) are exempt from writing the test.
